Peterborough is a diverse and vibrant city. We have worked with many community groups in Peterborough helping them to develop their organisations and social enterprises, grow their ideas and capacities.
In the last two years we have worked closely with 22 small groups from all sections of the community, co-producing some amazingly positive results.
Refugee community groups need dedicated support and guidance. Recently, we have helped Sudanese refugees to form their own mutual aid support group; and we have developed the capacity of PARCA which helps refugees, migrants and works towards community cohesion.
Successful fundraising from the Big Lottery Fund has brought stability to their core services.
The team have focused on supporting the development of children and young people’s services on the highly deprived Saffron Lane in Leicester.
Work with Goldhill Adventure Playground has included consultations, evaluation report and successful fundraising for core and new services. We have helped recently with an organisational strengths review and now with Trustee recruitment.
In recent years we have secured some small grants to provide pro-bono support and initiate far-reaching social action projects to examine the barriers to Big Society and inclusion faced by diverse disadvantaged groups; and latterly we are managing a Heritage Lottery-funded project: Portuguese Roots.
Since 2011 we have worked closely with Ipswich & Suffolk Council for Racial Equality - evaluating their discrimination service, running capacity-building training and helping to secure two Reaching Communities grants. Latterly we have worked in partnership with the Bangladeshi Support Centre who are looking to develop support to diverse communities across Suffolk.
